Advanced Photoshop Magazine Cover Art Contest

Advanced Photoshop, in association with iStockphoto.com, is offering four digital artists the chance to see their work on the cover of the magazine, as well as win some great prizes. iStockphoto.com has supplied ten fantastic images, which can be downloaded from www.istockphoto.com/createacover. You’ll need to log in to an iStockphoto.com account to get the images, but don’t worry if you don’t have one as registration is free and easy.

Artists must use at least one of these images and Photoshop (get a 30 day free trial here) to design a piece of artwork worthy of being on the cover of issue 65 of Advanced Photoshop (December/January). There will be four winners, with four collectible covers available, who will each receive £500 cash and £500 of iStockphoto.com credits. Full details can be found at the Advanced Photoshop Magazine site. The closing date for entries is 23 November 2009.

AKVIS Releases ArtWork V.3.0 For Windows And Macintosh

AKVIS Software, Inc. has released AKVIS ArtWork 3.0. ArtWork applies different painting techniques to digital pictures. Available in Mac and PC versions as a stand-alone or a plug-in for Adobe Photoshop, ArtWork helps users create a masterpiece out of an ordinary snapshot.

Version 3.0 offers a new painting style – Pen & Ink, as well as the possibility of converting photos into Oil Paintings and Comics. Creating an oil portrait or a comic strip from your last party is just a few clicks away! The new interface and the possibility to import/export presets will make your work yet more comfortable.

AKVIS ArtWork 3.0 is an ideal solution for creative expression and a perfect gift for a creative person. The program combines advanced painting techniques with a touch of an artistic approach to ordinary digital snapshots, making your digital pictures look as if they were real oil paintings. The program lays brush strokes naturally using the original photo as a reference, allowing creative persons to touch-up the painting by selectively changing the direction of the strokes.

Awesome 400d hack!

Will give you:
  • Additional ISO Values
  • Spot Metering
  • New Focus Frame pattern
  • Factory Menu
  • View shutter actuation count

You'll love the additional ISO values. You can select from ISO 16 to ISO 3200 in 0.3 or 1.0 EV increments. Even Canon top end model like Canon EOS 1D series cannot go that low ISO. But the low ISO 16 is barely usable. Besides, the new focus frame pattern is even most advanced than Canon latest best 1.6x crop camera ~ Canon EOS 7D. You can play around all the custom AF points that you want. By the way, many of us have been complaining the useless of print button. However, with this hack. The print button becomes the hero. You will need it to select all the new features.
